Home Learning

Research shows that the best thing we can do for home learning is to assist our students with reading, basic numeracy and encourage them to become lifelong learners. Do encourage your child to read (read to them, with them and have them read to you), encourage them to memorise the basic facts we send home.  These two things work! They make a difference. To that end do not expect homework, worksheets or projects.

Home Learning will consist of reading and basic facts for all and basic sight words (Fast Words) for juniors.

In addition students from Year 4, 5 and 6 are encouraged to take up the Waitākiri REAL CHOICES Challenges. These challenges include learning opportunities in the arts, physical activities, maths and literacy, service to others and the community, and service in school as well as environment and sustainability challenges.

For those children who like to design their own Personal Inquiry Challenge they will be required to complete this form and show their teacher prior to them starting their Challenge.
